Chemical and Pharmaceutical Technology (CPT)

The Diploma in Chemical and Pharmaceutical Technology is a 3 year full-time course. The industry-focused curriculum aims to provide a strong foundation in chemical and pharmaceutical technology with emphasis in areas such as petroleum refining, chemical plant operations and pharmaceutical technology to support manufacturing plants of major chemical and pharmaceutical companies.

Students are trained in the latest chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, including advanced instrumentation & control technologies. Students can opt for either petrochemical technology or pharmaceutical technology in their final year. This means that on graduation, they will be able to get gainful employment in the petroleum, petrochemical, chemical and pharmaceutical sectors.

The School of Chemical & Life Sciences is committed to provide a conducive learning environment to nurture fertile minds and spark creativity and innovation. In addition to this, our team of highly qualified, dynamic and caring lecturers are committed to equipping you with professional and value-added skills. Beyond academic excellence, we also encourages the development of important personal skills to complement the professional knowledge you will acquire. 

 

Students enjoy the benefit of an all-round training through informative lectures, challenging practical, e-learning, tutorials, field trips and through their very own projects with the lecturers and industry.

Our lecture series will be supplemented by seminars conducted by invited speakers with international standing. 

Field trips to pharmaceutical plants and research institutes will provide rich learning experience for the students. Under the Polytechnic's Industrial Attachment program, students can gain invaluable first-hand learning experience of the life science industry even before they graduate. Opportunities for attachment to companies overseas are also available under the Overseas Industrial Placement Programme where students can gain an international perspective on Chemical and Life Sciences and be exposed to foreign cultures, work styles and economic environments.
